31 October 2022:
In Class: Atomic Models. (Chapter 2:1 and 2:5)
Expectations: Students will be able to list the experiments and results of the development of the atomic model (Dalton, Thomson, Rutherford, and Schrödinger's electron cloud model).
Due: The Tirrill Burner Lab report.
Homework: Finish the Atomic Models Worksheet and the Atomic Models Answer Key.
1 November 2022:
In Class: Atomic Structure: protons (p+), neutrons (n0), and electrons (e–). (Chapter 2:1 to 2:3)
Expectations: Students will be able to identify the mass number, atomic number, and calculate the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in atoms and ions.
Due: The Atomic Models Worksheet
Homework: Finish the Atomic Structure Worksheet and the Atomic Structure Answer Key.
2 November 2022:
Lab 8:
Complete data collection and discuss principles and concepts in the
Flame Test Lab.
Expectations: Students will be able to identify an unknown sample based on standards in a flame test.
Due: The Atomic Structure Worksheet.
Homework: The Flame Test Lab report.
3 November 2022:
No Class: Chemistry does not meet on Thursday.
4 November 2022:
In Class: The Bohr model, electron configuration, excited and ground state, and spectra. (Chapter 2:6 to 2:9)
Expectations: Students will be able to write electron configurations for ground state atoms, excited state atoms, and ions.
Understanding atomic Particles. (Supplementary)
Expectations: Students will be able to find the most common isotope from an atomic mass.
Due: The Flame Test Lab.
Homework: Finish the Electron Configuration Worksheet and the Electron Configuration Answer Key.
