Week 2:  11 September to 15 September 2023

11 September 2023:

In Class:  Begin the Introduction to Chemistry powerpoint.

Expectations:  Students will write correct element names from symbols or symbols from names.

Homework:  Complete the Element Symbol Worksheet then use it to make flash cards to study for the element quiz.  You must know the names and symbols for each element.

12 September 2023:

In Class:  Scientific Inquiry and Analyzing Data.

Expectations:  Students will be able to explain the steps of the scientific method.
Students will be able to choose an appropriate graph to represent data.

Due:  The Element Symbol Worksheet.

Homework:  Finish the Scientific Method and Density Worksheet and the Scientific Method and Density Answer Key.

13 September 2023:

No Class:  Chemistry does not meet on Wednesday.

14 September 2023:

Lab 1:
Complete the Lab Equipment Sheet.

Expectations:  Students will be able to identify common lab equipment by name.

Lab Report:  The lab sheet and the Conclusions and Applications questions due on Tuesday (no formal lab report).

15 September 2023:

In Class:  Finish the Numbers in Science PowerPoint.

Expectations:  Students will be able to convert between decimal and scientific notations and use scientific notation in mathematical operations.  Students will be able to write numbers to the correct precision (number of significant digits).

Due:  The Scientific Method and Density Worksheet and the Safety Agreement.

Homework:  Finish the Percent Error worksheet.  Here is the Percent Error Answer Key to help you.
