In Class:  Springs and Hooke's Law:

  • Fs = kx
  • Fs = force on a spring
    k= spring constant
    x= change in spring length from the equilibrium position
  • Expectations:  Students will be able to solve spring constant problems.

    Lab 6:
    Data collection and analysis of Forces in Equilibrium Lab.

    Expectations:  Students will be able to add and resolve vector components.

    Due:  Test corrections.

    Homework:  Pages 2:53-55 (32 – 43).

    7 November 2023:

    No Class:  Professional Development Day.

    8 November 2023:

    In Class:  Springs and Potential Energy:

  • PEs = ½kx2
  • PEs = potential energy stored in a spring
    k= spring constant
    x= change in spring length from the equilibrium position
  • Expectations:  Students will be able to solve spring potential energy problems.

    Due:  Pages 2:53-55 (32 – 43).

    Homework:  Pages 2:55-56 (44 – 52).
