18 September 2023:

In Class:  Thrown Balls and Free Fall Graphs.

Expectations:  Students will be able to solve for distance, average speed, and final speed in free fall problems.

Homework:  Pages 1:139-140 ( 45 – 52 ).  Study for Quiz on Section 1-1.

Lab 1b:
Collect data and review the Graphing with Spreadsheets Part b lab.

Expectations:  Students will identify the order of polynomial functions using a spreadsheet.

19 September 2023:

In Class:  Calculating Initial and Final Velocity, Acceleration, Time, and Distance.

  • vf = vi + at
  • vf = final velocity or speed
    vi = initial velocity or speed
    a = acceleration
    t = time
  • d = vi t + ½ at 2
  • d = displacement or distance
    vi = initial velocity or speed
    t = time
    a = acceleration
  • Expectations:  Students will be able to solve for initial and final speed, acceleration, time, and distance.

    Homework:  Pages 1:140-142 ( 53 – 64 ).  Begin Take-Home Quiz on Unit 1 Section 1 (pages 1:1 to 1:17).

    22 September 2023:

    In Class:  Scalar and Vector Quantities.  Minimum and Maximum Vector Sums.

    Expectations:  Students will be able to explain the difference between scalar and vector quantities and to eliminate incorrect vector sums based on the minimum and maximum possible vector sums.

    Due:  Page 1:142 ( 65 – 69 ).

    Homework:  Pages 1:142-143 ( 70 – 77 ).
